How has the decade known as the roaring twenties effect the great gatsby?

The roaring twenties is also known as the Lost Generation. The Lost Generation was characterized by disillusionment, materialism, and cynicism. In the Great Gatsby, Daisy and Gatsby exemplify disillusionment and these other traits. Gatsby, for example, is infatuated with wealth and luxury and in turn, Daisy falls for him for a short while because she is materialistic. Nick acts as the commentator allowing the reader to see the faults of the generation.
