URGENT! How do I clean my DC Shoes?

I have a black pair of DC shoes, and also a white pair of ATX shoes (not very concerned with). But the DC shoes are $90 on sale, I got them as a gift and can't afford new DC's not even cheapies. I can't buy stuff to clean them with. My aunt told me to put them in the washer with old towels, and run for a quick wash, then place them in pillow cases and into the dryer on delicates. Is there a better way? Is this safe? I need them cleaned basically by tomorrow. HELP!
