How to make a ceiling lamp?

Your solution would be to purchase swag light kits. They come in a number of lengths to be able to a proper swag from location to plug. The kits include chain, cord, loop, on and off switch to attach to the cord if desired, and hooks to swag your fixture. What you will need will be sockets(ceramic would be best for long lasting), threaded 1/8 IP (to attach the socket to the shade and loop that is in the kit). And to adjust the socket so the bulb sits center in your shade you may need couplings or necks( they would go between the shade and socket). If you go to a Lighting Showroom they should be able to supply the parts you need along with some guidance. I don't know of any websites or books that show you how, sorry.
