L.A Dodgers' get Manny Ramirez? Done Deal!?
You can't trade a player the caliber of Ramirez and expect your team to be just as good without him. Should the Red Sox trade him they will have had to come to the conclusion that the problems he creates are of a greater concern than what he is able to do for them on the field. Also, Manny has enough service time that he can void any trade. If the team that wants him is not willing to give him a two or three year contract now than Manny could void the deal. If the Red Sox don't do something now and don't pick up his two year option at $20 million per year, Manny can walk out as a free agent after this season and do his own deal somewhere else and the Red Sox are left without anything in trade for him. The Red Sox could very likely come to the conclusion that they can't win this year without him and won't be able to get much for him if they try and trade him, so he stays with the team and continues to be a distraction to the Red Sox goal of winning another world series.
