What will the Republicans do when they lose the racist vote?

They've considered that problem at length. Since it has become socially unacceptable to be racist, and the racist vote was a critical factor for conservatives, they had to adjust their tactics. Now, they direct their bitter hatred toward gay//ed people. They figure they can milk that for awhile.
